ABOUT TIM
For as long as he can remember, Nashville session bass player Tim Denbo has loved and played music. Growing up in Indianapolis, IN, his musical training began with the piano at age eight; by 16 he was playing cello, double bass, electric bass and guitar.
Tim studied music education and double bass at the prestigious Indiana University School of Music, and holds an honors degree in jazz bass performance from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.
Since moving to Nashville in 2003, Tim has played with many artists covering a wide range of styles, from country artists Natalie Stovall, Ruthie Collins, Doug Stone, and The Voice Season 4 winner Danielle Bradbery; guitar icon Phil Keaggy; Christian artists Joy Williams and Mark Schultz; and former MCA artist/songwriter Lionel Cartwright; and studio and session work for many more current and emerging artists in and around Music City. In 2007 Tim earned a Grammy nomination with LynnMarie and the Boxhounds. He also provided bass and vocals as a member of Calico Trail, a unique, seasoned act signed to Lyric Street records in 2010. Tim has also played for numerous theater productions in Indiana, Boston and Nashville and, when his schedule allows, plays string bass for the Nashville Philharmonic Orchestra.
Music has taken Tim all over the world. In addition to venues around the United States, he has performed on two trips to Europe, several engagements with The Bossa Nova Hotel (featuring singer/songwriters Janey Clewer and Bruce Gaitsch and friends) at the Cotton Club in Tokyo, Japan, and more recently in Kuwait and Dubai, U.A.E.
He continues to be in demand as a Nashville session bassist, cellist, guitar player and vocalist, as well as for live performances in Music City and across the country for current and up-and-coming artists of all genres.
